Northern Dryland
Resource Centre
The Northern Dryland Resource Centre (NORDREC), was established to apply the Resilience Design approach to regenerate and enhance agricultural productivity, while empowering communities and programs to proactively address land degradation, climate variability, and increasing shocks and stresses. Resilience Design is community driven and grounded in agro ecological principles that integrate complementary strategies and practices. The Centre’s mission is to advance sustainable dryland regeneration through integrated training, research, and innovative approaches that restore ecosystems and strengthen local livelihoods. NORDREC specializes in regenerative techniques, natural resource management, climate resilience, and addressing socio-economic challenges in dryland areas.
Approach: Promote sustainable land use, water conservation, agroforestry, and community participation.
Goal: A hub for innovation and knowledge, contributing to environmental conservation, food security, and economic empowerment in Northern Kenya and beyond.
Our Mission
To empower dryland agro-pastoralists and farmers' cooperatives with knowledge and skills for Sustainable farming and ecosystem regeneration.
Our Vision
To be a leading resource center for dryland regeneration across Northern Kenya and Somalia, promoting sustainable and regenerative agriculture through education, research, and partnerships. Support for Farmers: Providing practical solutions and fostering collaboration for environmental preservation and socio-economic progress.
